Myself and sound designer Ryan Griffith were the 2003 Melbourne Aquarium 'Artists in Residence'. We were on site for 3 months delivering workshops for primary and secondary students as well as developing our own work.

The workshops gave students the opportunity to engage with concepts of ecology through art making from within the unique environment of the Melbourne Aquarium.

Students were encouraged to acknowledge the beauty, diversity, repetition and abstraction inherent in nature and to make connections to themselves and humanity. They were offered new perspectives to inspire their art making and were shown various approaches to marrying audio and visual elements in Flash.

Ectopia is a web site documenting the processes and works of the students as well as work created by Ryan and myself during our time at the aquarium.
